How to make Ginger Syrup

GINGER SYRUP – 10 WAYS TO USE IT!

  1. Add ginger syrup to hot water to make ginger tea.
  2. Substitute it as a sweetener in tea
  3. Use as a sweetener in tofu pudding
  4. Use as a sweetener when eating tang yuan or tangyuan
  5. Topping for oatmeal
  6. Make ginger ale by adding a tablespoon to sparkling soda
  7. Serve over pancakes
  8. Use as a sweetener in cocktails
  9. Use as a sweetener over ice cream
  10. French toast

HACK – HOW TO STORE GINGER? Keep ginger in your freezer for easy peeling and grating. Storing it in the freezer will extend the shelf life!  


**Full recipe without photos at the bottom of the page** Makes 1 cup Prep Time: 2 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 12 minutes

So what you will need is:

3-inch fresh ginger
8 oz rock sugar or cane sugar
1 cup water

1. Slice the ginger and then cut into match stick chunks.

2. In a sauce pan, add the water, ginger, and rock sugar or cane sugar.

3. Turn up the heat to high to boil, then lower the heat to a simmer for 10 minutes.

4. Set the wire sieve in the container.

5. Remove from heat and pour into the wire sieve and discard the ginger. Allow to cool before refrigerating.

Ingredients
