Hanok Korean Restaurant

Hanok Korean Restaurant 韓屋 on Urbanspoon

It was late Friday evening, just after 9:30pm. We had just missed last call at Tofu Pot on Garden City. Hungry for Korean stew, we drove down Alexandra looking for a substitute, but at the same time we wanted something new that we’ve never tried. As we were driving, I saw a bright light coming on my left side. It was Hanok. We parked and walked into the restaurant to give it a try.

This restaurant replaced the former Mongolian Grill that used to occupy this location. Inside the restaurant was spacious and clean. The server was nice, attentive and pleasant. She was eager to serve us because there were not many other patrons in the restaurant.

IMG_4012Snapped a photo of the menu item “hangover soup” – didn’t order this though, but it caught my eye
IMG_4015We started our meal off with Banchan: gamja jorim (potatoes), sookju namul (beansprouts), kimchi (fermented cabbage), broccoli

IMG_4017I ordered the Soondooboo.. I did not really like my dish. It was bland to me.

IMG_4018Galbitang – beef short ribs soup. The soup was served with a dish of salt to add yourself.

Thoughts:

  • Clean
  • Good service
  • Traditional
  • Food was average. I didn’t think that it was anything special. In fact, I found that I was still craving more after I finished the meal.

Where’s your favorite Korean restaurant in Richmond? Let me know, I’d love to check it out!
