Star Noodle. We saw great reviews and a rating in the 90th percentile! Maui Time rated it the best noodle shop in Maui. A Culinary Gem! Maui Treasure?!?!
WOW!! Seriously?!? Goodness… This place was not the best, at least not for a Vancouverite. I would say that I have been spoiled with the food living in Vancouver. Star Noodle could not even stand up against some of the average restaurants in Vancouver.
I had high hopes. When I was browsing through photos online, I made a mental list of what we were going to order. I was thrilled to check it out.
Star Noodle is located just off the Honoapiilani highway. There is plenty of parking, and the restaurant is quite modernized and contemporary.
Looking over the menu, I noticed a wide variety of dishes and touching on all different Asian cuisines. Another aspect I took notice of was that some of the dishes were similar to my Momofuku recipe book. i.e. Ginger Garlic Noodles and BBQ Pork Bun were straight out of the recipe book. But then again, those recipes itself are remixed versions from Chinese restaurants, so even David Choi did not invent those recipes.
For me, I found that the restaurant was not on par for Vancouverites. The prices were high and the food quality just did not live up to my expectations. I definitely will not be returning here.
